My name is Matt Guarino and this is Power 180, 3 minutes of housing literacy that can empower your dreams and transform your life. So today's question is what do you do first? The hard thing or the easy thing that's familiar? Don't overthink it. You know, think about the last 30 days, have you stretched to grow in ways that are uncomfortable or have you in the last year had done things like that? Just give it some thought. So if you're like most people you tend to do what is, you know, and what is easy. So here at Powerful homes, and as it relates to real estate, we seek out and try to be at our best during a thing we like to call a squeeze test. It's our calling card. And it's what sets us apart. Our hope is that what is on the inside of all of us at powerful homes comes out when we're squeezed and under pressure. That's how we look at it.

And our values are to be bold, keep it real and bring the fun. So those are the things that we hope come out when we're under pressure. So we always like to have the receipts. What I'd like to do is share a couple of quick stories with you, one person at one professional about how this works for us. So for me, on a personal level as you might know, from listening to other podcasts I started with nothing. I got a paper route when I was a kid. Bought my first home when I was 31, moved to Colorado and went all in, you know, I went all in with real estate and I started with buying one home, ended up buying hundreds of homes.

So the squeeze test that I would like to talk about there is my wife when we had an all the, while we had four young kids, our last was born when Earl was five. So we had five kids, four and under, I went all in on real estate and I was scared to death. And there was so many squeeze tests throughout that process. And what I learned was I had what it takes. I was more alert during that time than it would have been if I didn't put myself under pressure and good things came out.

The professional story is the last six months working with first-time home buyers. It's so intense trying to find a property that's not overpriced. So we've been buying off market and on market for buyers. And one thing we'd like to say is that we decide upfront how we're going to act. So during the process, which can be very stressful, we send a first aid kit to our buyers to get them through so that when they go through that squeeze test, their biggest values and the virtues can come out.
