Welcome back to the newest installment of Power 180- 3 minutes of Housing Literacy that can change your life (sponsored by Powerful Homes). Today’s question: What is your answer to HOW?
What comes up when you think about the impossible task or something that scares you? Since this is a podcast about home ownership…what stops you from taking the leap to buy a home? Most likely, it’s all the things related to how: money, down payment, maintenance…and all of the unknowns.
Here at Powerful Homes, we always say that the answer to how is YES.
What do we mean by that and how can we prove that it really works?
It is all about:
-Committing to the long game and going ALL IN on something
-Believing and trusting that you have what it takes
-Putting your foot down and rejecting the idea of NO
The average person hears the word NO over 150,000 times before they turn 18. We are programmed to believe that we cannot do things or have things. We have to make a very intentional decision to stop that trend.
We are BRAVER than we know.
And STRONGER than we think.
Welcome to the Housing Literacy Podcast with host Matt Guarino, founder of Powerful Homes. Matt's mission is to empower dreams through home ownership. We're here to help. We're going to do this together and now Matt Guarino.
My name is Matt Guarino and this is Power 180, 3 minutes of housing literacy that can empower your dreams and transform your life. So today's question is what is your answer to the question? How? How am I going to do this? Really? What's your answer to that? What comes up for you thinking about the impossible task or something that scares you. Since this is a podcast about homeownership, what stops you maybe from taking that leap to buy a first home or investment property?
Most likely it's all the things related to how the money, the income I need, the down payment, the maintenance, and what happens if I don't know what to do; all the unknowns. Here at Powerful Homes we always say that the answer to how is yes. And what do we mean by that? We mean that it's all about committing to the long game and going all in on something, believing and trusting that you have what it takes, putting your foot down and rejecting the idea of no.
No, it's crazy that the average person it's proven and studied that hears the word no, over 150,000 times before they even turned 18. Let that sink in. We're programmed to think, no, we can't do things or have certain things. We have to make it very intentional and how to make that very intentional decision to stop that trend. So back to the how, I have a quick story for you. When I was a young child, last of seven kids growing up in long island, we used to go to my immigrant Italian grandparents' home every Sunday after church for a brunch. And I was always blown away by the fact that my grandparents would meticulously care for their gardens and be planting these fruit trees all over. And when I was young and they were tiny, but as I grew up, I was able to climb on them. And all of my six siblings, every harvest season were able to climb to the top of these 40 foot trees, apple trees, and pear trees, orange trees, and things like that and create this amazing harvest.
So it just struck me. So how did that happen? How did they go from being [inaudible02:23] saplings to being large trees producing a lot of fruit? Time and attention from my grandparents. That's the lesson for me, day after day, season after season, they grew and produced more and more and more fruit. So the answer to how is yes, but the answer to how you're going to do with real estate is, I don't know, but I do know that you will mature. You will have more stamina. You will gain strength, just like those branches of the trees were able to hold our weight. As time went on, you will be able to handle the weight of the responsibility of owning a home. And we know you can do it. And we're certain that it'll produce amazing fruit and resources in your life. We would love to be your guides. We're Powerful Homes, and we would love to empower your dreams and transform your life. Check us out powerfulhomes.org. We'd love to love to hear from you and take that journey.
